Kalkan shopping

Kalkan is the perfect destination for shopping! There are plenty of options in the town, ranging from traditional bazaars to luxury "designer stores". You can find anything from handmade Turkish carpets and souvenirs to jewellery, clothing, and traditional handicrafts. Those looking for a more modern shopping experience can visit the high-end boutiques in Kalkan's historic old town. There are also plenty of small shops and markets selling fresh produce, as well as convenience stores for everyday items.

Markets in and around Kalkan

Do you know about our weekly markets? They are on, all year round and provide locals with a way to get their fresh produce & essentials while giving visitors the chance to savour all the seasonal offerings and a few souvenirs too.

We have 2 markets that are easily accessible for Kalkan visitors.

The closest one is the Kalkan Thursday Market. It starts early in the morning till early evening time.   The location of the market is here.

There is one more market, the Akbel market, that one is on Sundays located here. It is also walkable but only by very fit people as you have to climb a few hills on the way. Most people will take a taxi there and then just walk back down. Its quite similar to the Thursday one but a bit more local in flavour. Lot less touristy stuff and a lot more stalls for locals. One special feature of this one is the point and cook fish stall that you should experience.

There are a few other notable markets within driving (or busing) distance. There are many more that are very local and would not be of interest for visitors (just local fruits and veg).

Other notable ones:

  • KaÅŸ market on Fridays : very similar to Kalkan but bigger. Its an excuse to visit the much larger town.

  • Kınık market on Fridays : very similar to Akbel, but much bigger. Very local, targeting local farming community.

  • Fethiye Tuesday market : the largest market in the area, worth a visit and an excuse to go to Fethiye.

  • Fethiye Friday market : fruits and veg only. Huge variety and full of colours.

Other choices

Most of the best boutique shops can be found in Kalkan itself with lots of small gift, jewellry, clothes, leather handbags, purse, leather shoe shops, carpet bazaars, and antiques’ outlets all to be found on the winding, cobbled streets.
